Who we are

Besides other types of agriculture, we biologically produce exotic mushrooms on Lower Alentejo, Portugal. Scóbis – Unidade de Produção de Cogumelos was born on the Aljustrel municipality, in the middle of the Alentejo plains, specifically on the Herdade da Minhota. The previous generation of parents and grandparents instilled a love for agriculture from an early age, and in 2013 it led us to the idea and unconditional will to diversify from traditional dry agriculture to innovative agriculture. Founded in June 2017, Scóbis specialized in producing, marketing and distributing, fresh, dehydrated, and powdered biological mushrooms. We produce wonderful and uniquely flavoured mushrooms innovatively and sustainably, from a substrate of cellulosic-wood. The quality and product differentiation of our products, with a focus on healthy eating, is the cornerstone belief of our company. We provide the freshest, healthiest, delicious and juiciest mushrooms 365 days a year.

Our History

TRADITION AND VAUES PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE GENERATIONS

Based on the Monte da Minhota, an estate that belongs to the family Descendants from one of the oldest Portuguese families that, even today, are dedicated to agriculture.

The Monte da Minhota is a 300-hectare estate located between the two mining villages of Aljustrel and Castro Verde, a place of many stories, home to a lot of solidarity and sharing. The main activity has always been dry agriculture and cattle, pig, and sheep farming. In 2017 a new and innovative agriculture took hold and an enticing project was born, a very sophisticated mushroom production unit.

It’s our great passion for the quality and health benefits of our products that makes us work in sync with traditional agriculture, which is a part of our family history, and more sophisticated agriculture.

Our mission is to contribute to the social, and economic development of our region and country, becoming a national reference in the agricultural sector.

To increase the visibility and preference of consumers for national produce, as well as helping to diversify the Portuguese agricultural products in ever-demanding markets, and in high-value market segments, particularly the ones that value quality and singular attributes in the product.
